Hi everyone. Here's what we've been up to at Necessary Fiction this week:
Sarah Layden returned to our pages, this time reviewing Olenka by Budi Darma, translated by Tiffany Tsao (Penguin Classics).
Rickey Fayne discussed his novel The Devil Three Times (Little Brown) with regular interviewer Amina Gautier.
This week's story was "Where the Sharks Are" by Claudia Monpere. We previously published Claudia's story "Yellow Gifts" and are honored to share her writing again. Her story collection The Periodic Family is also arriving this month from Cowboy Jamboree.
And in research notes, PJ Blumenthal wrote about his new collection Self Portraits, from Sagging Meniscus.
Elsewhere, contributor Steve Edwards has a new book, Rare Good:Essays on Art, Autism, and Astonishment, available from University of Nebraska Press.
Elisa Gabbert wrote for the New York Times about Anne Carson receiving the Nobel Prize, and how Carson's writing has influenced her own.
And Objects of Desire, a story collection by friend of NF Adam O'Fallon Price, is newly available from Autumn House Press.
Thanks for reading,
Steve Himmer
