So, I was asked by Steve to be the ‘Writer in Residence’ this month here at Necessary Fiction, which I consider to be quite an honour.
If I understand things correctly, I’ve been given carte blanche at this blog so I’ll pretty much be writing about . . . well, anything that enters my head.
In the next few days some stuff, things, words will begin to appear from me on here. Right now I have no idea just what they’ll be, but I guess this is part of the fun . . . right?
It has also occurred to me that many of you will have absolutely no idea who I am; rather than me explain who I am I would advise you (should you feel inclined) to have a read of Steve’s rather splendid introduction of me and my work posted a few days ago . . . he manages to make me sound far more exciting than I actually am. I can assure you all, I’m extremely boring.
Anyway, less of this preamble, here’s a short list of some of the subjects I’ll try to cover before this month’s over and out:
Writing the real in fiction (see below)
Avoiding realism in fiction (see above)
Wallace Stevens, Francis Ponge (and other poets like that)
Fables
Speculative Realism (see the first two subjects)
Longhand
What to do when you can’t write/or have just finished a novel
The London Literary Scene
German publishers (they are very cool)
Some other stuff
Okay, more from me this week.
Lee.
