Hi everyone. Here's what we've been up to at Necessary Fiction this week:

Reviews editor Diane Josefowicz wrote about On The Other Side Is March by Sólrún Michelsen, translated by Marita Thomsen (Transit Books).

This week's featured story, as our summer flash fiction continues through September (there were just that many good stories!), was "An All-Consuming Love" by Daniel Krieger.

And in research notes, Spencer Fleury wrote about The Shitbird (Stanchion).

Elsewhere, on Tuesday 9/22 friend of NF Peter Medeiros will teach an online workshop exploring "The New Shape of Horror" for Metrowest Writer's Guild. His story collection Extinct in the Wild is forthcoming in November from Pen & Anvil Press.

And I'd also like to share this essay by contributor Jonathan Gibbs on "F. Scott Fitzgerald and Nicholson Baker: the greatest two semi-colons in All Literature." It's a wonderful close look at how a specific instance of punctuation impacts the story around it, and the kind of precise craft choices that make a difference. I'm excited to discuss it with my students, and to be reminded of when encountering interesting moments of punctuation myself.
