Hi everyone.
Another Saturday morning and another snow storm here, albeit a light one today. The salt marsh on three sides of my peninsular neighborhood is piled up with great heaves of ice sliding on top of each other as each incoming tide pushes new sheets up from beneath and nothing melts. It all looks a bit neolithic, like a mock up for Stonehenge being moved around to find the right arrangement before committing to stone.
But this isn't a newsletter about ice formations, so here's what we've been up to this week:
On Monday, kay kemp reviewed Pandora by Ana Paula Pacheco, translated by Julia Sanches and published by Transit Books. We're pleased to feature kay's work for the first time.
And on Wednesday we were honored to share a selection of excerpts from The Book of Jim by Laressa Dickey. You'll find more of Laressa's work here.
Submissions remain open until February 15 for our annual flash fiction summer series, and soon we'll begin sharing a series of stories selected by guest editor DeMisty D. Bellinger.
And we were pleased to learn this week that Esquire Ball, a debut collection by contributor Lisa Slage Robinson, will be published next week by Black Lawrence Press.
Thanks for reading,
