Necessary Fiction
Doing our best since 2009

Another Saturday, another update on what we’ve been doing at Necessary Fiction.

This week we shared a review of September and the Night by Maica Rafecas and translated by Megan Berkobien and María Cristina Hall for Fum d'Estampa Press.

And our featured story was “In The Deep Blue” by Gary Moshimer. His writing has appeared in our pages a few times before and we’re glad to have him return.

On Friday, in our translation notes series, we published “Consequences of Color: Translating Blackness in Three Early Modern Spanish Plays,” an essay by Michael Kidd about his book  Black Protagonists of Early Modern Spain: Three Key Plays in Translation. We’ve previously published a short story by Michael, “Point Which Past,” so it’s great to see him back, too.

In contributor news, past contributor Ben Tanzer's novel The Missing was published this week by 7.13 Press.

As always, if you're a past contributor with a book being published, or have received an award, or have other big news to share, please let us know. We can't include every publication by a magazine or website because there are so many of them (go you!) but we're always glad to share those on social media.

Thanks for reading,
Steve Himmer
