Welcome to Saturday, friends. I hope you've had a good week. Here's what we've been up to:
Mia Carroll reviewed Soft Burial by Fang Fang, translated by Michael Berry for Columbia University Press. Reviewed by Mia Carroll. Mia previously reviewed The Way You Want To Be Loved by Aruni Kashyap.
Then Anu Kandikuppa discussed her story collection The Confines, newly published by Veliz Books, with Allison Wyss. Allison also interviewed Avitus B. Carle recently.
And our featured story this week was "Clinical Labor" by Melissa Tuckman, whose story "Anthrosol" we also published in 2023.
Congratulations are due to contributor Claire Cameron, whose memoir How To Survive A Bear Attack has just been published. And to contributor Sarah Fawn Montgomery, whose craft chapbook Nerve: Unlearning Workshop Ableism to Develop Your Disabled Writing Practice is now available from Sundress Press.
I was also glad to notice recently, a bit belatedly, that Jonathan Gibbs' novel Randall has been published in a new US edition from Tivoli Books. Jonathan shared some research notes with us when the novel was published in the UK by Galley Beggars Press.
Finally, submissions are closed at the moment but will reopen on April 5 with a call for spooky stories for our annual October series. I'll include more details in next week's newsletter when they will also be available on our Submittable page.
Thanks for reading,
Steve Himmer
