I'm pre-scheduling this very early in the week because of some upcoming travel to mountains with limited internet access, but when you receive it on Saturday morning feel free to imagine me calling these updates to you aloud across an Alpine valley.
In lieu of our usual book review this week, our editors shared some reading suggestions for the back half of summer, something we like to do a couple of times in the year.
Then we brought you Anna Mantzaris talking to Joshua Peralta about her new story collection Occupations (Galileo Press). A few years ago we published Anna's story "Evidence" and we're glad to have her in our pages again.
And our featured story, next in our summer flash fiction series, was "The Woman Inside" by Avitus B. Carle. You can read more by Avitus at https://avitusbcarle.com/.
Contributor Robert Kloss has a new novel — Genocide House — forthcoming from Bridge Books, and it is available for preorder now.
Finally, regular submissions of fiction will reopen on August 1. Our next themed submission period will open in mid-September.
Thanks for reading, Steve Himmer
