I hope everyone has had a good week, apart from computer crashes bringing so many things to a halt and all the other current events I've been trying not to think about more than is healthy. A good time to read something absorbing, perhaps.
On Monday we published ColmMcKenna's review of Not A River by Selva Almada and translated by Annie McDermott. We're glad to have Colm writing for us again, after another review earlier in the year.
We also brought you a conversation between Laura Furman and Mary Fleming, about Mary's new novel Civilisation Française.
And our featured story this week, continuing our summer flash fiction series, was "How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse" by Laura Leigh Morris. We're very glad to publish Laura's writing for the first time, and you can find more of her work at her website.
Contributor Letitia Trent has a new novel being published this summer, Summer Girls, from Agape Editions/Haunted Doll House. She has been writing about it in her newsletter lately if you'd like to learn more.
Finally, regular submissions of fiction will reopen on August 1. I will be reading those submissions myself for a bit while our fiction editor, Lacey, focuses on some themed submissions.
Thanks for reading, Steve Himmer |
