Good morning, folks. I hope everyone has had a good week. I've got some new writing to share from our website and several pieces of exciting contributor news.
On Monday we shared Renée E. D’Aoust's review of A Life In Chameleons, a novel by Selby Wynn Schwartz and published by Reflex Press. Renée previously reviewed Heading North by Holly M. Wendt and you can find more of her work at her website.
Then on Wednesday our featured story for the week was "What Cometh Out of the Mouth" by Hyun Woo Kim, a new writer in our pages whose work we're excited to share.
In contributor news, congratulations to Christine Lai whose novel Landscapes (published by Two Dollar Radio) won the 2024 Firecracker Award for fiction. Christine wrote about Landscapes for our Research Notes series, and it was also reviewed for us by Katy Dycus.
Former Necessary Fiction book reviews editor Susan Rukeyser has a new novel forthcoming from Braddock Avenue Books, titled The Worst Kind of Girl. It can be preordered from the press now.
And contributor David Rose let us know that The Night-Soil Men by Bill Broady, which he wrote about during his time as our writer in residence, will be published in June by Salt Books.
Finally, contributor Éireann Lorsung — a brilliant poet and maker of things — is preparing to launch a new booklet series of slow reading and writing called Abundant Number. You can sign up to be alerted to the first release (which, full disclosure, will include some excerpts from a novel of my own about fatherhood and a saltmarsh).
Thanks for reading, Steve Himmer |
