Welcome to November, friends.
I hope Halloween, for those of you who mark it, was the right balance of scary and fun and that if candy's your thing you gathered lots of it. With the turn of the month it's nice to feel the pull of the winter solstice approaching.
Here's what we've been up to this week:
Our book review saw Rick Henry writing about The Shadow of the Mammoth by Fabio MorĂ¡bito, translated by Curtis Bauer, and published by Other Press. It's nice to have Rick's work in our pages again. You'll find more of his writing at his website.
And the final story in our October series was "Where all things are forgot" by Michael Patrick Brady, published by us for the first time. You can read more from him here.
We've recently added some new titles to our list of books available for review, so if there's something here you'd like to write about please be in touch at the links above the list.
Finally, whatever your perspective is on the broader situation around it, there are a lot of people losing food support and access in the US right now. If you're in a position to do so, I hope you'll consider giving whatever help is within your means, and that if you need help it is available to you. Here is a database of food banks and another of food pantries, if you're looking for a way to help locally.
Thanks for reading,
Steve Himmer
