Good morning, all. I hope you've found some time and space for yourself this week in the fact of… well, let's just say "a lot," which seems to be the ongoing way weeks have been lately even if I never quite feel used to it.
Here's what we've been up to:
Happy New Years, a novel by Maya Arad translated by Jessica Cohen (New Vessel Press) was reviewed for us by Shara Kronmal. It's great to have Shara back in our pages.
Then we shared an interview with Tom Comitta, conducted through the mail by Eric Bies, to discuss Tom's new book Patchwork (Coffee House Press) and their writing practice more broadly. Both Tom and Eric are new contributors with us, but do also check out Eric's reviewing at Orange County Review of Books.
This week's featured story as our summer flash fiction approaches its end was "Trees In Winter" by Millie Kensen, a writer whose work we're pleased to share for the first time.
And we ended the week with Susan Gregg Gilmore sharing some research notes for her new novel The Curious Calling of Leonard Bush (Blair Publishing).
Finally, today seems like a good day for listening to an album of tunes about birds, so here's the 4oth Anniversary Edition of Bert Jansch's brilliant Avocet, if you too are so inclined.
Thanks for reading,
