Hi folks. If you, like me, are in the path of the large snowstorm swooping in this weekend, I hope you're staying warm and safe. Here's what we've published this week:
Megan Peck Shub reviewed The Nights Are Quiet In Tehran by Shida Bazyar, tr Ruth Martin, published by Scribe. We're pleased to share Megan's work for the first time.
And this week's featured fiction was "Just Another Saturday Night" by Dawn Tasaka Steffler, selected by guest editor Nicholas Claro. Thanks to Dawn for sharing her work, and to Nicholas from whom this is the last of the excellent run of stories he's selected for us as guest editor over the past few months.
For the next few weeks we'll bring you some stories selected by me, then guest editor DeMisty Bellinger will share some selections. In the meantime, submissions remain open for our annual flash fiction summer series until February 15.
Elsewhere, registrations are open for the 2026 Conversations & Connections conference in Washington, DC. Hosted by our friends at Barrelhouse, C&C really is one of the most enjoyable and uplifting writing conferences around. It is always a day well spent, and if you're in that region I recommend it highly.
Finally, a couple of forthcoming books you might want to preorder:
First, Aliens Attack by contributor Dave Housley, coming from Mason Jar Press.
And second, We're All Having Fun Here by Meg Mullins, coming from the very exciting Fork Apple Press.
Thanks for reading,
Steve Himmer
