Bizarre Fiction: Amelia Gray
Looking for some fun bits of flash fiction? Check out ameliagray.com.
Originally from Tuscan, Arizona, Amelia’s lived in Austin and most recently moved to Los Angeles. Her website opens with a blog on her whereabouts, writing/story updates, and forty-two links to online presses where her work is featured (McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Monkeybicycle, and Wigleaf, to name a few). The vast majority of her work is 100 to 200 words, sharp little scenes taken from bizarre characters and relationships (a woman who eats books after her husband disappears, a man married to a paring knife, a scientist and his fortune telling machine, etc) that connect to our ordinary lives in a unique way.
She is also the author of two short story collections, AM/PM from Featherproof Books and Museum of the Weird from FC2. Her forthcoming novel, Threats, is due in March of 2012 from Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Check her out now so you can look cool when everyone starts hearing about her! And watch out for my interview with her coming later this year!
