Happy Saturday, friends. It's a quick one this time:
On Monday we shared Kirstin Allio's review of The Best That You Can Do, a collection by Amina Gautier recently published by Soft Skull Press. Amina has appeared in our pages numerous times, especially with her astute interviews of other writers. And Kirstin previously wrote some research notes for her collection Clothed, Female Figure. Her next collection Double-Check for Sleeping Children is forthcoming in August from FC2.
And we also kicked off our summer flash fiction series with "Vesper" by Andrew Siegrist. You'll find more of his work through his website.
Contributor Brett Biebel recently published A Mason & Dixon Companion with University of Georgia Press. And Any Person Is The Only Self by Elisa Gabbert will be published by FSG on Tuesday, after a terrific review in the Washington Post.
Please let us know if you have a book or other project to be published soon! We can't really keep up with sharing individual publications of stories, essays, poems, and shorter work because there are just so many of them (which is great to see!) but we do try with larger projects.
And remember that submissions are open until June 30 for our October series of Spooky Stories, this year with the theme "Dangerous Creatures."
Finally, we'll be sharing on the website our editors' suggestions for summer reading. But what about yours? If you'd like to send us a couple of sentences about something you'll be reading or recommending this summer, please do — maybe it's a reading goal you've been saving? Or a new book you're excited about? Research for some interesting project? We'll see what we receive then will figure out the best way to share them.
Thanks for reading, Steve Himmer |
